From Colorado to California, Illinois to Minnesota, our teaching artists are leading thoughtful, hands-on experiences for young people of all ages. Whether it’s visual art, movement, storytelling, or performance, the focus stays the same—creating space for creativity, confidence, and connection.
A Glimpse Into This Summer
This summer reflects the kind of work we care about most: responsive, community-based programming that meets people where they are.
We’re returning to partners like the City of Daly City and expanding multi-session offerings in visual arts and writing. In Colorado, we’re continuing to build strong relationships with schools and local studios through music and film programming. In the Midwest, we’re bringing dance, language, and creative exploration into park districts and community centers. And across all sites—from early childhood to older adults—we’re making sure creative experiences remain accessible and engaging.
Each program looks a little different, because each community is different. That’s intentional.
How We Approach This Work
At FHMD, flexibility is central to what we do. We collaborate closely with each site to design programming that actually fits their needs—whether that’s a one-time workshop or a full summer camp series.
Our teaching artists are working professionals who bring both their craft and their care into the classroom. We value process as much as product, and we aim to create environments where participants feel supported, challenged, and inspired.
We’re Looking to Grow Our Artist Community
As our work continues to expand, we’re looking to connect with more professional teaching artists.
If you’re an artist who cares about community, enjoys working with young people or intergenerational groups, and wants to be part of something thoughtful and collaborative, we’d love to hear from you.
Let’s Work Together
If you’re a school, camp, or community organization looking for creative programming, we’re always open to building new partnerships.
